Chris Goddard

Chris Goddard - Photograph of a pebble on a sandy beach, water flows past the pebble . Image has haiku written on it - Hiding in plain sight, Desire’s internal struggle, Erasure’s disguise

I am a Lincoln based practitioner. I have exhibited widely throughout the UK in group and one person shows. The bulk of my commissioned journalistic work covers editorial features for many clients including: The Observer, The Guardian, News International, Central TV, Times Education and Time Out. I have also worked on long term photographic contracts for The Nursing Times, The Museums Association and the Usher Gallery.

Quite a lot of my personal photographs have hidden stories (meta-narratives) which casual observers might miss. So, instead of lengthy texts describing them I have started adding text to the images in the form of poetry; haiku or senryu to be precise.

This adds another dimension, encouraging viewers to look a little closer, maybe asking questions in an effort to discover more…
